Wondering where to go to see your favorite homophones this week? Well we’ve got ‘em right here.
Every Friday, Lee and I dish the inside track on tracking down gay musicians and performers around the country.
Here are our picks for the week:

Saturday Kinky Gay Men’s Chorus Fundraiser: So *I* may not be a huge a capella show-tunes kind of guy, but I’ve seen the NYC Gay Men’s Chorus in concert at Lincoln Center and, I’ve got to say, these boys can belt. See them all dressed up in their leathers for their annual fundraiser and New York City’s Eagle this Saturday (554 W. 28th Street b/w 10th and 11th Aves). Map!
Sunday: Toshi Reagon: Ever since Lenny Kravitz tapped Toshi to open for him for his first world tour, the earth grooves with Ms. Reagon. The moment you’ve been waiting for has arrived, Trixie-philes! Episode 3 of Homophonic featuring the lovely lead singer of Telling on Trixie is online and waiting, just for you. Visit AfterElton RIGHT FREAKIN’ NOW to see it for yourself.
See Derek take some much-needed down-time on the cushiest couch in the music biz right before he catches a flight to his next gig. Derek tells all on the Trixies: from the peculiar demography of his fans, to his collaborative process with his other, straighter half; to the bun he’s got baking in an oven 1,000 miles west.
In just 12 months, Telling on Trixie has gone from a band with an album to pop idols with thousands of fans. Catch them here, right now, before he stops returning our calls.
(P.S. Remember to watch the whole episode, kids (or at least fast forward to the last 4 minutes), ’cause delicious Derek dishes deep with an exclusive video commentary on his hit single, Orion’s Light…only on Homophonic!)
And just where was the Homophonic crew this weekend? Dancing our faces off at The Center thanks to house pioneer and Godfather of beats, Frankie Knuckles .
The wizard-behind-the-tables dropped by New York City’s GLBT Community Center for a one-night-only bear-themed benefit and rocked our socks off.
As you can see from the revelry, the beer flowed and the beats fell all night long with Frankie downstairs and a downtempo lounge on floor three.
It was frightfully good to hear the master himself spin some seriously deep house including his own Whistle Song and everyone’s lose-your-shit single Lola’s Theme from Shapeshifters .
Now, if this photo doesn’t say corporate sponsorship for Homophonic, I don’t know what does:
We just couldn’t sit on this one for long. Homophonic’s next vampy victim on Alex’s cushy couch is none other than Derek Nicoletto– lead singer of big-time break-out band Telling on Trixie.
As you’ve come to expect, we got the inside edge with Mr. D. when he graciously stopped by just before he hopped a plane to his next gig. From the not-so-coincidental ferocity of his fans; to giving all those straight boys at his concerts two snaps, a twist, and a kiss; to his most important frontman role ever: being a Dad…Derek charmed us both into an evening in the life of Telling on Trixie.
Whilst you wait, why not have a listen to Derek and the Boys in action:
